The reason why Beyoncé has put her 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy on stage with her for her tour, has been revealed.
In an interview from The Early Show in June 2001, when the singer was performing with Destiny’s Child, she was asked if she would let her future daughter her perform, to which she responded: “Definitely, if she wanted to do it. But I would make sure she knew all of the hard work that came with it.”
In Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, released in 2023, the singer can be heard explaining: “Blue told me she was ready to perform, and I told her no. I did not think it was an appropriate place for an 11-year-old on a stadium stage,” Beyoncé said. “All the things that I had to go through and obstacles I had to overcome prepared me, and she hasn’t had that struggle. I made a deal with her, and I said, if you practice and you show your commitment, I’ll let you do one show.”
It’s clear that one show was successful, as the teen went on to perform on many stages of her Renaissance tour.
One person shared on X: “I see A LOT of people saying Beyoncé is forcing Blue Ivy to be on stage. This is what she wants to do and clearly enjoys dancing on stage with her mother.”
However, Blue has since received some serious backlash from haters online.
Speaking in the doc, Blue said: “I feel like now my mindset has changed, and now I actually have to wake up in the morning and go to rehearsals. And I have to actually work hard,”.
One fan commented: “Blue Ivy trained harder for the Renaissance Tour after reading comments about her lackluster dance moves.”
Another commented: “She has EVERYTHING at her disposal & CHOOSES to put in the work for what she wants out of life. Anyone that doesn’t respect that, is just miserable.”
“That baby could’ve gave up after all the hate but she let it fuel her instead,” posted another.
Despite her parents being worth around $3 billion, Blue is making a name for herself, including earning a Grammy for her vocals on “Brown Skin Girl” and serious praise for her vocal acting in Mufasa: The Lion King.
At age 13, she has an estimated worth of $500 million.
